Xavier University Marks National Pollution Control Day with Green Drive and Creative Recycling Contest

Xavier University, Patna observed National Pollution Control Day with a series of environmentally focused activities aimed at promoting sustainability and student engagement. The events were organized by the Eco Mitra Club in collaboration with the Xavier Art Club.
The day began with a plantation drive held at 11:40 AM in front of the university building, where faculty members and students planted saplings as a symbolic step toward combating pollution and enhancing campus greenery. The initiative sought to raise awareness on environmental protection and encourage young citizens to contribute to ecological preservation.
Following the plantation activity, the university hosted a “Best Out of Waste” competition at the main entrance gate. Students from various departments showcased innovative creations made from discarded materials, highlighting the importance of recycling, responsible waste management, and creative reuse.
Participants from the School of Commerce — Kavita Kumari, Supriya Kumari, and Lavanya Kumar Singh — secured the top positions for their imaginative entries.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Mr. Arindam Roy, Chair of the Eco Mitra Club, and Ms. Priya Gupta, Mentor of the Xavier Art Club. The event also received special support from Dr. Rakesh Kumar Pathak, Dean of Activities. Vice-Chancellor Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Martin Porrass, S.J., extended his best wishes for the success of the initiative.
Through these activities, Xavier University reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship and encouraged students to take proactive steps toward building a cleaner and healthier future.
