Grand Staging of “Andher Nagari” Enthralls Audience, Artists Honoured
Dumra, Sitamarhi:
On the auspicious occasion of the consecration ceremony (Pran-Pratishtha) of Shri Bhaveshwar Nath Mahadev Temple, Aryabhatta Kala Evam Sanskriti Shikshan Seva Sansthan organized a grand theatrical performance of the timeless satirical play “Andher Nagari”, written by the immortal Hindi litterateur Bharatendu Harishchandra. The play was staged successfully on Monday night, February 23, 2026, at 10 PM in the premises of Primary School Bhaunprasad Paschimi.
Through the powerful narrative of the play, the artists delivered a sharp critique of corrupt governance, a flawed justice system, and prevailing social distortions. The impactful dialogue delivery, lively performances, and captivating stage design left the audience spellbound. A large crowd gathered to witness the performance, and the entire venue resonated with thunderous applause throughout the night.
Maurya Pintu Singh Kushwaha, Secretary of the institution and Director of the play, stated that such cultural programs aim to spread awareness, promote moral values, and strengthen cultural consciousness in society.

The event was anchored by theatre artist Vikesh Sah from Patna. Make-up was done by Anjani Kumari, while music was coordinated by Govind Raj alias Keshav Yadav and Bhola Bihari.
Members of the temple committee including Vrij Kishore Rai, Sanjay Rai, Abodh Rai, Gajadhar Mukhiya, Ram Balak Rai, Shyam DJ, and a large number of devotees were present at the event.
A special attraction of the evening was puppet artist Gaurav Chandra, who entertained the audience with his puppet ‘Champak’.
At the conclusion of the program, all participating artists and contributors were honoured with medals and certificates by the Secretary and committee members. The institution expressed gratitude to all guests, performers, and supporters.
