Heavy Rain Exposes Civic Lapses in Khagaria: Santosh Kumar Demands Immediate Action

Khagaria, April 20:
Following heavy rainfall on the night of April 18, large parts of Khagaria town were submerged, turning key roads into virtual lakes. One major incident was narrowly averted on Mill Road when a man, caught in the flooded stretch, was rescued by local residents and rushed to a nearby private clinic for treatment.

Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Nagar President Santosh Kumar, along with several local leaders, has urgently appealed to the Chairperson of the Khagaria Municipal Council to address the situation without delay. Kumar emphasized the dire need for immediate drainage repairs and completion of the under-construction sewer line on Mill Road to prevent future mishaps.

“The condition of our town after a few hours of rain reveals the negligence in basic civic maintenance. We urge the Municipal Council to complete the drainage construction and ensure proper water management immediately,” Kumar said.

Among those present during the inspection and subsequent meeting were RJD Nagar Vice President Nandu Kedia, RJD Business Cell District President Shambhu Poddar, Rajesh Gupta, Bheem Tulsyan, Ankur Sharma, Shubham Sharma, and Ranjan Sahni.

Local residents have echoed the concerns raised, warning that without swift action, Khagaria may face bigger disasters in the upcoming monsoon season.
