11-Day Theatre Workshop Concludes in Patna with Powerful Play on Child Marriage and Girls’ Education

Patna, June 30, 2026 (Tuesday):
The 11-day theatre workshop jointly organized by Ras-Rang, Patna and Rainbow, Rohtas concluded successfully today at the Ras-Rang office located in Balammichak, Anisabad, Phulwari Sharif, Patna-2.

The closing ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by distinguished guests including Shri Pyarelal Ji, President of Ras-Rang Shri Shivchandra Prasad Gupta, Secretary and President of Rainbow, Rohtas Ms. Nisha Kumari, Shri Ajit Kumar, and Patron of Ras-Rang Shri Thakur Ram Ashish Prasad.

During the workshop, children were trained in various creative disciplines such as painting, yoga, music, and dance. The sessions were conducted by trainers Nisha Kumari, Ajit Kumar, Abhijit Chakraborty, Mohammad Zaffar Alam, and Sahil Sinha.

Under the direction of Raj Kapoor, the children prepared and presented a dance and a socially relevant play titled “Don’t Clip the Wings” (Pankh Katarne Mat Do). The play addressed critical issues like child marriage and girls’ education.

The storyline revolves around Lado, a bright and ambitious girl who dreams of becoming a doctor. Despite excelling academically and earning admiration from her teachers and friends, her parents decide to marry her off at a young age due to societal pressure, poverty, and orthodox beliefs. However, with the intervention of social activists and aware villagers, the harmful consequences of child marriage are highlighted. Realizing their mistake, Lado’s parents eventually call off the marriage and support her education.

The play was written and directed by Raj Kapoor.

At the end of the event, participating children were honored with certificates and mementos. Parents in attendance expressed immense खुशी and pride after witnessing their children’s performances.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Raj Kapoor, Secretary of Ras-Rang.
