Xavier University Ushers in New Academic Year with a Dynamic Orientation Day
— Inspiring addresses, expert talks, and interactive sessions mark a powerful start for freshers

Patna, July 24: Xavier University, Patna, ignited the academic spirit of its newest cohort with a power-packed Orientation Day held on July 24, 2025, at the iconic Kalam Hall. With a vision to integrate the incoming undergraduate and postgraduate students into the university’s vibrant ecosystem, the event delivered a fine blend of tradition, inspiration, and forward-thinking engagement.

The Orientation was strategically divided into two sessions, each designed to inform, empower, and connect students with the university’s core values and academic ethos.

The inaugural session commenced at 9:30 AM with a soulful invocation and ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by a graceful prayer dance that set a reverent tone. Vice Chancellor Fr. Dr. Martin Poras, SJ, welcomed the freshers with a powerful address, urging them to embrace the academic journey with curiosity, commitment, and purpose. The university’s Annual Theme for 2025–26, centered on innovation, social accountability, and holistic growth, was also unveiled—signaling Xavier’s intent to not just educate minds, but shape leaders of tomorrow.

Gracing the dais, Bihar’s Hon’ble Minister of Education, Mr. Sunil Kumar, delivered a motivating keynote. He underscored the importance of integrity in pursuit of excellence and challenged the students to rise beyond mediocrity. Rector Fr. Joseph Sebastian SJ, Finance Officer Fr. Alphonse Crasta SJ, and Registrar Fr. Dr. Sherry George SJ also addressed the gathering, weaving in Xavier’s legacy of values-driven education with present-day relevance.

Adding a personal touch to the proceedings, select parents shared heartfelt testimonials on why they entrusted Xavier’s with their children’s future. A spirited musical performance by students wrapped up the morning session, infusing the hall with youthful energy.

An informative presentation by Placement Officer Mr. Piyush Ranjan Sahay followed, highlighting the university’s industry partnerships, internship pipelines, and career support systems. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks and a networking refreshment break.

The second session, which commenced at 11:55 AM, took a more engaging and developmental route. Ice-breaking activities, a captivating song performance, and an expert talk on soft skills gave students a head start on navigating academic life and workplace dynamics with finesse. Registrar Dr. George revisited institutional guidelines and student responsibilities, laying down the framework for a productive and disciplined tenure.

More than a ceremonial event, the Orientation Day stood as a launchpad—aimed at building confidence, fostering belongingness, and inspiring purpose.

As the curtains fell on the day’s proceedings, Xavier University reaffirmed its commitment to shaping not just scholars, but ethical changemakers. The university now stands poised to mentor this new generation of Xavierians—ready to transform classrooms into catalysts for social transformation.
