Rangam Patna Brings “3 Voids” to Kolkata: A Poignant Tale of Memory, Trauma, and Resilience

The vibrant theatre scene of Kolkata is set to witness a compelling new production as Rangam, Patna gears up to stage its latest play “3 Voids” at Theapex, Dum Dum, on 26th March at 6:30 PM. Directed by acclaimed theatre practitioner Dibyadoot Roy Chowdhury, the play promises an emotionally stirring experience rooted in human vulnerability and resilience.

Set in a quiet Kolkata neighborhood, “3 Voids” revolves around the lives of three sisters, two of whom suffer from mental disabilities caused by a traumatic incident during the Kali Puja of 1999.

Amid this emotional turbulence, the play introduces a unique and heartwarming element that brings moments of relief and connection, adding depth to an otherwise intense narrative.

Speaking about the production, director Dibyadoot Roy Chowdhury shared that rehearsals are currently in full swing. He expressed optimism that Kolkata audiences will experience something fresh and emotionally profound through this play. With over nine years of experience in theatre, Chowdhury is known for his sensitive storytelling, nuanced direction, and deep engagement with complex human emotions.

Adding to this, Raas Raj, Secretary of Rangam, emphasized the group’s commitment to working with independent artists and freshers, whom he considers the future of Indian theatre. He expressed his excitement about bringing a Patna-based theatre production to Kolkata and extended his best wishes to the entire team.

The cast of the play includes Sritanya Chakraborty, Manisha Naskar, and Sneha Sarkar. The director praised the performers, stating that they are deeply immersed in their characters, showcasing well-trained, disciplined acting enriched with strong emotional depth.

With its powerful storyline and dedicated team, “3 Voids” is poised to leave a lasting impact on Kolkata’s theatre lovers, offering a deeply moving reflection on life, trauma, and hope.
