Xavier University, Patna, Rings in 79th Independence Day with Stirring Salute to the Nation

Patna – The campus of Xavier University, Patna, transformed into a vibrant stage of patriotism and pride on the 79th Independence Day, with celebrations that blended solemn tradition, cultural artistry, and a call for individual responsibility toward nation-building.

The day’s proceedings began sharply at 9:00 AM with the ceremonial flag hoisting by Chief Guest Col. (Retd.) Amit Sinha. As the tricolour unfurled against the morning sky, the national anthem reverberated across the grounds, igniting a wave of unity among students, faculty, and guests.

In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor urged the youth to measure themselves against the aspirations of India’s founding fathers, stressing that meaningful change begins with personal transformation. “If each one changes themselves, India will rise to great heights of peace and prosperity,” he said, setting the tone for the day’s reflections.

The Dhwani Club’s soulful patriotic rendition held the crowd spellbound, paving the way for an impactful address by Col. Sinha. Drawing from decades of military service, he championed the virtues of discipline, service, and national pride, leaving a palpable sense of purpose among the audience.

The celebration also witnessed the unveiling of two scholarly books — compilations of research papers by the university’s faculty and scholars — underscoring Xavier University’s commitment to academic excellence and thought leadership.

Art took center stage with a stirring mime performance by the Xavier Theatre Club, paying tribute to the Indian Army’s often-unseen contributions during peacetime. The Xavier Dance Club followed with a high-energy patriotic dance that embodied India’s unity in diversity.

From solemn flag hoisting to cultural vibrancy and intellectual milestones, Xavier University’s Independence Day celebration stood as both a tribute to India’s hard-earned freedom and a resounding reminder that the nation’s future lies in the hands of its citizens.
